The Parkview guidance department exists to support the academic, personal and social growth of the individual as well as empower him/her to become a productive citizen. It is our desire to promote a sense of self-satisfaction.

Counselors are
available Monday Friday, 8:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m. While the office
is open on
Fridays, the office will not schedule student or parent appointments in order
to facilitate student paperwork.
FAQ
Standardized Test Dates
ACT / SAT - These are college admission tests. Parkview counselors recommend that students wait until the spring of their junior year to start taking these tests. Information is available in the guidance office.

AP (Advanced Placement) Tests May 5 16, 2003
Students are given the opportunity to pursue college level studies while still in high school and to receive advanced placement and/or credit upon entering college. Credit is established by tests and must be evaluated in terms of the specific program the student wishes to pursue at college.

Please supply teachers and counselors with your completed
information along with "brag" sheet and allow ten (10) working days
for completion of
recommendation.
Financial Aid Workshop for seniors and parents is scheduled for January 28, 2003 @ 6:30 p.m.
Tutoring
is available each morning Monday Thursday, 7:30 8:30. (Math room
2-101 and
Science room 2-204.)
S.I.P. (Supplemental
Instruction Program) - The Arkansas Activities Association requires
that a student who competes in an interscholastic activity (any competition
with other schools)
must have a semester grade point average of at least a 2.0. If a student desires
to continue
participating in an activity but has below a 2.0, he/she should contact the
group sponsor to
register for a mandatory tutorial program to help in deficient areas.
N.C.A.A. Requirements Before an athlete can play a sport or receive an athletic scholarship at a division I or II college, he/she must meet specific academic criteria as set forth by the NCAA. Register on line at www.ncaa.net.
Selective Service Registration With few exceptions, all male United States citizens and male aliens residing in the U.S. and its territories must register within the period starting 30 days before, and ending 30 days after their 18th birthday. Men who fail to register, as required by law, cannot qualify for federal student grants or loans for college, job training benefits and many state and federal jobs. Register via the internet at: www.sss.gov. You can also register by going to your local post office or seeing Mrs. Johnson in the guidance office to complete a registration form.
Driver's License
Arkansas law requires a high school student to have a 2.0 grade point
average for the latest completed semester. Obtain the request form from Ms.
Carter, the
registrar.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the
library.
