We have Club Day twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Thursday. The clubs meet for the last 45 minutes of the school day. Every student is encouraged to join at least 2 clubs. The following is a list of the clubs currently offered at Henderson. Some clubs require a membership fee. The students will be allowed to sign up at the beginning of the school year.
FCCLA - Mrs. Jarrett
This club is for students enrolled in the Family and Consumer Sciences classes.
High Adventure - Mrs. Valbracht, Mrs. Powell
This club teaches students how to enjoy the outdoors. Students will camp and hike. They will also learn CPR and First Aid.
LOVE Team – Mrs. James and Mrs. Jamerson
Let Our Violence End focuses on learning how to deal with people from different walks of life and respecting their differences.
Comic Book – Mrs. Maddox
This club is for students who are comic book and trading card collectors or enthusiast, such as, Yu-Gi-Oh and Duel Master cards.
Ladies Club (6th) – Mrs. Sanders-Anderson, Ms. Sanders, Ms. Gray-Akins, Ms. Wilson, Ms. Mothershed
Ladies Club (7th & 8th) – Mrs. Sanders-Anderson, Mrs. Wilson, Ms. Gray-Akins, Ms. Z. Sanders, Ms. Mothershed
This club focuses on teaching young ladies how to dress professionally, personal hygiene, table etiquette, and other characters that embody acting as a young lady.
Pre-Engineering - Mrs. Keaton and Mr. Clark
Engineering encourages K-12 students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics through partnerships with local universities, government and industry agents.
Gentlemen’s Club - Coach Nichols, Coach Finley, and Mr. Warren
This club focuses on teaching male students how to be young men. The students learn how to dress professionally and the art of chivalry and acting as gentlemen.
Student Council - Mrs. James. Mrs. M. Jones
The student governing body of Henderson Magnet Middle School.
Math Club (6th) - Mrs. Hogue, Mrs. R. Smith
This club is for students that like to play math games, such as, Sudoku.
Math Club (7th and 8th)-
This club focuses on fun activities you can do using math.
Peer Helpers - Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Tatum and Mrs. Coleman
These students are selected by the counselors to help their peers with certain issues.
National Jr. Honor Society – Mrs. Z. Sanders, Ms. Boyett and Mrs. Sanders-Anderson
This club is an academic organization for students with a 3.5 GPA or higher.
BETA Club – Mrs. Z. Sanders, Ms. Boyett, and Mrs. Sanders-Anderson
This club if an academic organization for students with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
FBLA - Ms. T. Kelly and Ms. Ellis
Future Business Leaders of America is a club for students who have taken Keyboarding.
Teachers of Tomorrow – Mrs. L. Anderson and Mrs. James
This club is for students who are interested in the teaching profession.
American Sign Language Club – Mrs. Geffken, Mrs. Ledbetter, and Ms. Horton
This club will emphasis teaching students American Sign Language
Chess Club –
The students will learn to play chess and challenge each other in competition.
Golf Club – Coach Keopple
This club will teach students the game of golf.
Poetry Slam – Mrs. Olmholt
Students who have an interest in writing and presenting poetry in different aspects.
Art Club – Mrs. Dillon
This club is for students who have an interest in art (drawing, sketching, watercolors, etc.)
