"Where World Class Children Learn"

Gibbs puts children on cutting edge with technology training

For many adults, the new wave of technology was a frightening thing that had to be learned for survival. But for the children at Gibbs magnet, technology is another class they attend twice a week.

Students at Gibbs begin working on computers in kindergarten, and continue working on them through fifth grade, meeting and sometimes exceeding state technology standards. With the learning lab in place, students receive extra tutoring on their Math and Language skills - at the same time their classroom teachers are teaching those skills in the classroom. Teachers coordinate their lessons in the lab each week to make sure students are getting the extra help they need.

A certified teacher, trained by the school district in technology, works with each of the students, and with the faculty - to help make sure that our students - and our teachers - don't get lost trying to navigate the information highway.

It's just more proof that Gibbs Magnet is the place where student achievement is not where we plan to be - student achievement is where we already are.
