"Where World Class Children Learn"
We're having a great day at Gibbs Magnet School

Gibbs opened its doors in 1987 as the first international studies school in Arkansas. At each grade level, K-5, students have a daily foreign language class and an international studies class. Students learn about other nations and cultures through the study of geography and the universals of culture. They also learn about their uniquely created nations as all classrooms participate in the Gibbs Mini United Nations, complete with General Assembly Ambassadors and Peacekeepers.

Students select from the languages of French, German, and Spanish for their six-year study at Gibbs. Major goals for Gibbs include improving literacy and math skills. Benchmarks are achieved in all the core disciplines: language arts, math, science, and social studies.

Each student has the opportunity to perform in an original musical, to enter their artwork in annual competitions, and to participate in physical fitness opportunities. Students participate in the Gibbs-Dunbar Community Garden to learn organic gardening. They also enjoy a Garden Club.

Gibbs Magnet School is part of a learning community located near downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, that includes Dunbar Middle School, Dunbar Field, Dunbar Recreation Center, Gibbs-Dunbar Community Garden, and the Sue Cowan Williams Public Library.
