"Where World Class Children Learn"

Principal Felicia Hobbs has been in the business of education for 27 years. For her, it has clearly been a labor of love. She excelled as a classroom teacher, later earning a position as assistant principal, and finally, was promoted to the position of principal at Gibbs Magnet. Her strong leadership has pushed Gibbs forward to become one of the state's premier elementary schools, and a crown jewel in Little Rock School District.

.

Hobbs' focus is on academic achievement, and that focus is evident in every part of the building. Hobbs clearly believes in success in every classroom, accountability among the staff, each of the students, and in the classrooms of each of the teachers in the building. Each morning, Hobbs visits every classroom in the school to make sure students are focused and learning. Hobbs is described by collegues as hardworking and dedicated, and expects nothring less from her staff. Hobbs was once a nominee for the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission Salute to Greatness Community Service Award, and received a nomination this year as "Adminstrator of the Year." She has studied at Harvard University. Her position as Gibbs principal was strongly backed by the teachers, parents, the community, and many educational leaders in the district who provided her with strong recommendations for her position as principal at Gibbs Magnet School of International Studies and Foreign Languages.
